With technology it is usually seen that the new advances are smaller in size, faster in processing and longer working ability. Same with the computers, from usual personal computers they got smaller and smaller to what we have now: laptops and notebooks. But what is the difference and similarities of laptop vs notebook? In here we will tackle this topic.
First we will distinguish the names laptop vs notebook. The name laptop basically refers to a portable computer that is almost the same as a desktop personal computer but smaller in size and thus easier to carry around. It runs on a battery and if not plugged after several hours the battery life will be gone. The name itself is denoted from being able to put the laptop on top of your lap and do your work on the computer. Because of its smaller size and yet almost same capabilities as desktop computers they are much more expensive than desktop computers.
Laptop vs Notebook
On the other hand of the laptop vs notebook we have to also define notebook as distinguished to be different from the laptop. The notebook is also a portable computer but even smaller in size compared to a laptop. It has greater battery life than the laptop. The name is coined from its small size, almost same size as a regular paper notebook. It is more convenient to carry around and cheaper than laptops. However, the catch is that the features are also fewer.
So which is better in the laptop vs notebook area? It actually depends on what you will need the portable computer for. In terms of size the notebook is definitely a better choice. It is also better when it comes to battery life and in terms of the ease of carrying it around. However its cooling system is not as great as the laptop. On the other hand we have the laptop. The laptop is bigger to carry around and has shorter battery life but its cooling system is better than that of the notebook. In addition it has more features that enable the user to work on multimedia programs. So it all depends on what you are going to use it for.
